Meeting Minutes December 12th

MCFS held a brief informal Board of Advisers meeting to organize the direction of MCFS and the develop plans for the Meet and Greet.

Introduction

Meeting Attendees:
Dr. Hull
Mr. Gunter
Mr. Lundy
Ms. Chi
Mr. Camcam

Mr. Gunter has secured conference room 219 on TSU main campus to host the 1st Meet/Greet. We have rescheduled the time/date and need members to attend to help recruit new membership and build brand awareness for MCFS.

Please mark your calendars for January 21, 2009 from 11 to 1 for the main campus Meet & Greet event. We have allocated funds from Campus Kaleidoscope to provide treats and beverages. It's suggested the treats have an ethnic/international theme to offer a sample of Spring Celebration. Also, to promote excitement and buzz, we asked Mr. Camcam invite his breakdancers.

An additional Meet/Greet event will be held on the downtown campus on January 22nd from 4 to 5:30 near the Atrium with treats/beverage. Entertainment for that event is undecided. Hopefully, we can invite the breakdancers back for our second meet/greet. Again, we need current members to help provide support for MCFS.

Our goal for the Meet/Greet is to recruit membership by promoting the importance of networking with the global community. MCFS will began programs, workshops, seminars as a benefit for students and their future in the global marketplace.

Mr. Gunter suggested CommunityNashville--an organization dedicated to fighting the "ism". CommunityNashville host a retreat that MCFS members will have the opportunity to attend.

Mr. Camcam will be speaking with corporate sponsors to attend MCFS meetings and educate attendees about what global market criterias corporations are seeking today.

Election date is January 29, 2009 for executive committee positions: President, Secretary, PR Officer

Redesign MCFS Logo (Ms. Chi)

We are looking forward to welcoming more members to our Meet/Greet meeting in January.

A meeting before January 22, 2008 is needed to help prepare materials and "pitch" for students to join MCFS.

  • brochures about the club
  • flyers about the meet/greet
  • contact sheet

Election date is set for January 29, 2009. We will be deciding at that time an official executive committee.

Also, students have the opportunity to sign up for committees for the Spring Celebration.

Overall, the meeting was very productive. Again, thank you for your attendance and contribution.

December 1st Pre-Meeting

Hello everyone!

Tonight at 4:00 PM, MCFS will be having an "Introduction" meeting at Avon Williams Campus in conference room H-404.

Here's a brief history of MCFS:

Started in 2000, MCFS is a student organization driven to "bridge the cultural divide". The Office of International Business Program is the current sponsor for the organization. Membership in MCFS is mainly consisted of business majors and students from other colleges and school within TSU. The signature event for MCFS is the MultiCultural Spring Celebration, a one-day affair which traditionally is held in early April on the Old Plaza of the Main TSU Campus.

The purpose of the event is:
  • stimulate and strengthen the interaction of diversity
  • create an outlet for creative expression for diverse students
  • encourage diverse students to have more visibility and involvement on campus
  • educate and promote intercultural awareness and appreciation among diverse students, faculty, and the surrounding TSU community

The Spring Celebration includes ethnically inspired dishes, performances from a wide range of different cultures, and education displays from sponsors and student organizations.

The event is an enriching opportunity to experience different cultures within TSU campus. To particpate in this exciting event, please attend our next meeting on January 15th. We will start planning and organizing the Spring Celebration '09. Your presence would be greatly appreciated!

Please note: MCFS will also be hosting elections for executive positions on January 15th in room K-459 at 3:30. Please email mcfs_yahoo.com with your information and attend our next meeting.
